a zack x aerith fanzine

Letters From the Sky is a fanzine dedicated to the relationship between Zack Fair and Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII. This fanzine aims to capture the tragic beauty of these two: from their serendipitous encounter to the memories they leave behind. Their story is one of dreams—a hope to see that blue sky; a vow to protect; a wish to be together again. They offer one another a gift, a purpose, and words that resonate like a solemn hymn. For that bed of flowers beckons them once more, within those letters from the sky.Post-production funds will go to the Conservation International, a non-profit organization with the goal of protecting nature for the benefit of people.Status: Creation Period. faq

1. What is a zine?
A zine or fanzine is a small-circulation, self-published work of original writings and/or arts. In our case, it would be fan-published.
2. What is this project about?
Letters From the Sky is a fanzine dedicated to the relationship between Zack Fair and Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII.
3. How will contributors be compensated?
All contributors will receive a free digital and full bundle of the zine.
4. Where will the proceeds go?
Post-production funds will go to the Conservation International, a non-profit organization with the goal of protecting nature for the benefit of people. Their missions include investing in forest protection initiatives, helping local and indigenous communities protect forests on their lands, and innovating new ways to sustain marine fisheries.
5. What are artists required to do?
Artists will be assigned a page or merch depending on application results. Illustrations are CMYK full color, with a 0.25 inch bleed. A template will be provided for page artists. Merch templates will depend on merch type.
6. What are writers required to do?
Writers will write no more than 2k word short story with proper formatting, grammar, and punctuation.
7. Is traditional art allowed?
Yes. Please make sure to provide a clean, high quality scan of your work. Scanning in 600dpi or higher is advisable.
8. How old do I have to be to apply? Is there an age restriction?
All interested contributors must be 16 or older during the time of your application in order to be considered for the zine.
9. How many contributors are you accepting?
We are anticipating about 40 contributors, which will involve 30 artists, and 10 writers.
10. Are contributors allowed to collaborate? Can a writer collaborate with another writer or artist?
We welcome all sorts of collaboration between our contributors! Do note, collaborations can only be established among contributors after they’ve been accepted into the zine and joined the Discord.
We also welcome any collaborations where artists would like to provide secondary, small pieces to accompany a writer’s story and decorate the story’s pages! These pieces will not be priority and artists who do volunteer to do this would still be expected to provide a full page illustration first and foremost. More details on collaborations will be available during claims and in the Discord server.11. Can we include other characters that are not Zack and Aerith?
Other characters can be included as long as Zack and Aerith are the main focus. As this is a Zerith focused zine, we’d prefer you to keep the focus on them together. Past or polyamorous relationships with other characters are not encouraged as it distracts from our theme. Secondary ships of other characters in the background are fine unless otherwise addressed by a mod. If you have questions pertaining to this, please do not hesitate to let any of the mods know.
12. Are AUs allowed?
As this is meant to be a highlight of Zerith within the original canon, AUs that can work within that canon are fine. AUs that change the universe (i.e. AUs based on another franchise/series, Omegaverse, Steampunk, etc.) are not allowed. Exceptions to this rule would be Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts.
13. Can I submit an older piece (art or fic) for the zine?
Unfortunately no. Please make sure that the piece is unpublished and brand new.
